Frank M. Leighty, Jr. of Jenks passed away February 11th, 2007 from complications resulting from a severe lung ailment. Frank was born November 27th, 1923 in Coffeyville, KS., the son of Frank M. Leighty, Sr. and Mable Wintermote Leighty. Frank served his country during WWII as a decorated U.S. Navy fighter pilot who earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. While on leave between tours of duty in the south Pacific Frank met and married Margaret Ann Reid of Newton, Ks. In the early 70's Frank founded the landscape and nursery business he loved so much; and operated until his death.
