Obituary of Verl Barnard

Verl Marine Barnard, 81, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Barnard was born June 28, 1925 in Keota, Oklahoma the son of Fred Lee and Eunice L. (Spence) Barnard. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II being honorably discharged. After the war he was a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign War. He worked for a number of years as a truck driver for Hale-Halsell. He married Rena Evelyn Miller on March 17, 1945 and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2005 after 59 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter: Peggy Joyce Cook of Wagoner, OK; his grandson, Kenny Wayne Cook of Oklahoma City, OK; his Great Grandchildren, Kendra Cook and D.J. Conley; his brother: Jerry Rex Barnard of Tulsa; his sister: Freda Jane Richardson of Claremore, OK. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Doyle Barnard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 Sunday at the Ninde Woodland Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Suncrest Baptist Church, 6110 S. 99th E.
