June Rose Dyer, by God's grace passed away in her sleep peacefully on September 20, 2009 at the age of 84 after a long illness. June was born on June 23, 1925, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Frank Harry Lucas and Violet Ruth (Claytor) Lucas. She had four brothers; Howard, Dale, Kenneth, and Jimmy. She was raised on the family farm in Ramona, Oklahoma. After graduating from Ramona High School she chose to leave the rural setting and head for the big city of Tulsa where she attended business school and eventually went to work for J. D. Young Company. During World War II, while living and working in Tulsa, she met the love of her life, Herbert Charles Dyer, at a local ice skating rink. Herb enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was stationed in Tulsa while in training at Spartan School of Aeronautics. Herb and June were married on April 6, 1947 at the University Baptist Church in Tulsa. June and Herb lived their early married years near Kewanee, Illinois while raising their children. They permanently returned to Tulsa in 1956. Herb worked in the Insurance business, and June, being the ambitious person she was, was employed by American Airlines. She rose through the ranks and held many positions over the 45 years she was with American Airlines and later, Sabre, a former division of American Airlines. She was a faithful member of Eastwood Baptist Church and a member of the Early Birds Sunday School Class. Eastwood was Herb and June's extended family, going on untold trips to the Holy Land, Switzerland, Falls Creek and much more. She was preceded in death by husband, Herb Dyer and twin granddaughters Angela Lee and Lisa Marie Dyer. June is survived by her daughter, Kay and husband, Bob Goshen; son, David Dyer, son, Dan and wife, Linda Dyer; nine grandchildren: Rob Goshen and wife, Laura, Ami Woodard and husband, Jake, Ashlee Hope and husband, Dave, Hannah Conly and husband, Bryce, Miriam Finley and husband, T.J., Marine Corporal Ethan Dyer, Sarah Dyer, Drew Dyer and wife, Ladeana, Stacy Hogle and husband, Justin; great grandchildren, Caleb and Kyleigh Woodard, McKenzie and Mikayla Hope, Dallas and Eli Dyer. June's life was an example of tenacity and toughness having survived the great depression under very difficult circumstances. She survived by shear grit and determination and the dream of a better life. She loved to sew and be creative. She loved to bowl, go to sporting events, travel and spend time with family and friends. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her and we appreciate her for the qualities she mentored to all of us. She is loved and will be missed. Service 10:00 A.M.
