Lucinda (Cindy) Ann Tillman Long, born September 25, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Dr. Walter W. and Miriam Tillman, passed away on April 13, 2006 in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a long and brave fight against multiple chronic health problems. She graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield and attended Washington University in St. Louis and Drury College in Springfield. Cindy married her high school sweetheart, Bob in 1962. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1969. She cared for her family as a homemaker until 1976, when she and Bob bought the Guitar House of Tulsa. As an astute businesswoman she was a vital force in the success of their business as vice president and treasurer. Cindy was a driving force in the Tulsa Jaycee-Ettes which she joined 1972. Among other positions held during her short membership, she served as chairman of the Publicity, Civic and Welfare, and Fundraising committees, was liaison to the state Jaycee-Ette organization, and served as Secretary. She received numerous awards and honors, including Spoke-Ette, Spark-Ette, and multiple awards as Jaycee-Ette, of the month, and at least once was Jaycee-Ette of the year. After exhausting out of the Jaycee-Ettes, for about a decade she was the co-publisher of the Oklahoma JCI Senate's newsletter, which the U.S. JCI Senate named its outstanding newsletter in the nation. In 1994 she was awarded an honorary Oklahoma JCI Senator ship in recognition of her many years of outstanding service in Jaycee-related organizations, one of only two so honored in the Senate's history. In 1995 she was heavily involved with the 75th Anniversary Reunion of the Tulsa Junior Chamber of Commerce. She excelled in everything, including the needlepoint she often did while attending Jaycee meetings with her husband. Cindy was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Besides being a devoted wife and loving mother, she could be a confidant and sister to her many friends. her family's close, enthusiastic support of one another was shining example to others. Her cooking was wonderful, needlepoint exquisite, knitting adventurous and penmanship perfect and beautiful. Cindy was a true lady of quiet dignity, fiercely supportive of husband, Bob. Generous in life Cindy's final gift to others was to be an organ donor. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Phillip Quigg of Ft. Myers, Florida. She is survived by her husband Robert G. (Bob) Long of the home, daughters Teresa (Teri) Lynn Long and Christina (Tina) Marie Long both of Tulsa; sister, Martha Susan Chrisney of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Eugene Bruce Quigg of Pickerington, Ohio; niece, Barbara Marie Shreve of Suwanee, Georgia; and cousin, Gretchen Smith of Lansing, Michigan. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 8181 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. At a later date services will be held at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Missouri.
