Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Ogle

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On July 15, 1938, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Elizabeth Jane Gordon was born to Clarice Irene (Greenman) and James Buster Allen “Jack” Gordon. Elizabeth passed away at Porta Caeli House on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the age of 86.

After a brief stint in the Enchantment State, the family moved to Texoma in the Panhandle of Oklahoma to run a hotel. That eventually led them back to Oklahoma City where Elizabeth graduated John Marshall High School in 1956.

Elizabeth attended the University of Oklahoma and became a lifelong Sooner fan, proudly cheering on OU during games chanting  “Boomer Sooner”! It was a visit to Tulsa with a friend where she met LeRoy Ogle and went on their first date. They soon married in 1959 and started their life in Norman while finishing school. Their family was blessed with four children, and they ultimately made Tulsa their home.

Elizabeth worked for TWA, and then also helped her husband open Verle Smith’s RX Drugs. Elizabeth proudly supported LeRoy as he worked as a pharmacist until 2007.

Elizabeth was a devoted wife, and embraced her roles as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and the adored "Mauer" of her four granddaughters. Alongside these roles, she was a resilient breast cancer survivor, demonstrating her unwavering spirit.

Elizabeth loved entertaining, and hosting friends and loved ones. The family traveled back to New Mexico often to ski and enjoy the scenery and art in Santa Fe and Taos. Grand Lake was the main weekend destination for decades, whether for fun at Shaw’s Cabin or boating with friends. Ti Amo was her favorite restaurant for more than 30+ years, dining with lifelong friends and laughing together throughout a meal. Crosswords, Rummikub, puzzles, and books were constantly in action. Music, humor, conversation, and hospitality was always in abundance with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth’s final years were joyfully spent at Montereau making new friends, playing bingo, getting her hair fixed, enjoying Sunday omelets, and attending events along with community town halls.

The family would like to thank the caregivers that helped Elizabeth in her final weeks. The wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at OSU Medical Center, Ascension St.  John Medical Center- Neuro Trauma ICU, and Porta Caeli House were truly kind.

Elizabeth is survived by children, Deborah Kurin and husband Dorian, Leigh Reaves and husband John, Jennifer Allen and husband Steve; grandchildren, Abby Kurin and husband Charles Foxen, Claire Reaves, Drs. Emily McNulty and husband Sam, Avery Allen and fiancé Ike Slayton (Tulsa, OK); brothers, Dell Gordon (Oklahoma City, OK), Robert Gordon and husband Jesse Romo (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico); many loving nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her wonderful husband LeRoy Ogle, son Bradley Ogle, brother Jack Gordon, and parents.

Memorials may be made to Porta Caeli House, 2440 N Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK  74115.
