Obituary of Jimmie Leon Tibbs

Jimmie Leon Tibbs was born in Tulsa, OK on April 8, 1929, to James Virgil Tibbs & Elsie (Whisenhunt) Tibbs and passed from this life on April 14, 2025, at the age of 96.

 

Leon graduated from Central High School in Tulsa and upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after his tour of duty.  He owned Shaw Bros. Motor Company where he first began his career as a mechanic.  He also loved being a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and served the church in many ways including usher and as an elder. He loved his many friends there and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lloyd Tibbs.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Carole Adeline (Dahlmann) Tibbs; his daughters, Vivian Scroggins (Fred), Sharon Dougless (Paul) and Lois Frischmann (Fred); his 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

 

Jimmie will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. and his funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, both at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home & Chapel.  He will be laid to rest with military honors at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
